Not your prom queen’s tiara
Last month, the New York Times Styles section asked us all to consider an important question: are wedding tiaras are the new power scrunchies? While I take some issue with the Times’ choice of terminology here (call it a diadem all you want, Rowena, a fancy headband does not a tiara make), I think my answer is yes. With some qualifications: I’m not sure what a power scrunchie is (is it the opposite of Kryptonite, for your hair?) And I’m generally opposed to wedding headpieces that veer into Childlike Empress territory. But hair accessories you can wear to your wedding and then to your birthday and maybe even the office on Tiara Tuesday? Yes, sign me up.
The best news about crowns being the new… something, is that they are not exclusively relegated to the realm of wedding wear. Which means you can find them at most on-trend fashion retailers, at price points starting as low as $25 (and maybe cheaper if you shop at Claire’s or Icing). So if you’re not sure a veil fits your wedding style, or just want something fancy to dress up your office attire, here are sixteen wedding headpieces (aka crowns, aka tiaras, aka halos, aka diadems, aka headbands) you can wear to your wedding, and anywhere else that suits your fancy. Can’t do that with a veil, now, can you?*
*I mean, you can wear a veil to the office, technically. But your coworkers might think you’re having some wedding separation anxiety issues.
