Between gearing up for the holidays and trying to ignore the increasingly early sunsets, it’s no wonder we keep dreaming about escaping to an exotic locale. All that fantasizing has been put to good use though, because this is the first installment of a series on amazing honeymoon spots. Planning and daydreaming encouraged!

Europe

If you love art, architecture, and everything in between, then Europe could be the perfect place to go for your honeymoon. Here are some suggestions that aren’t as obvious as Paris or Venice:

This fishing village on the northwest side of Italy is one of the most beautiful places this country has to offer. The gorgeous views of the ocean and quaint village will leave you more than satisfied. Best time to visit: summer is tourist season, and it has mild weather throughout the year.

Prague Czech Republic

As one of the few countries that wasn’t bombed during World War II, the Eastern European country is full of breathtaking beauty. The storybook charm and character of the squares and city will excite even the least architecturally inclined. Best time to visit: Fall or spring.

Dubrovnik Croatia

This Mediterranean sea port has becoming an increasingly popular destination for young honeymoon couples for good reason. Stunning Medieval architecture and gorgeous scenery make this a great choice for those seeking warm Mediterranean weather without the crowds in Nice or Cannes. Best time to visit: Early fall, when there are less people and the weather is not too hot.

Lapland Finland

A place in the northern reaches of Scandinavia might not seem like an obvious choice –but for those couples looking for some adventure and cozy nights beneath the northern lights, this is the perfect place. Finland offers great activities for those who like adventuring and don’t mind the cold. Best time to visit: Winter months are best to see the charming Christmas decorations, as well as the northern lights; but summer is gorgeous as well.

Happy Planning!
