Deciding on how to decorate your wedding tables is the perfect opportunity to be creative.
There are flowers, props, name cards, chair decoration, crockery, menus, table clothes and favors to play with and the possibilities are endless.
Whatever your budget, it is possible for any bride and groom to have a beautiful and fun table for their guests to enjoy. It’s a great place to tie your theme or color scheme in with your decoration but there is more than that to consider. When you’re designing your wedding table decorations, don’t forget the primary function of the tables – that your guests will be sitting and eating there, hopefully chatting away. So whether you’ve got a round or rectangle table, don’t put anything too tall in the middle – you want the guests sitting opposite each other to be able to talk.
Alternatively, make it tall enough for the guests to be able to see under it, like this candelabra.
MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR GUESTS BUT DON’T LET THE TABLE LOOK SPARSE
Secondly, it’s nice to give a little room, so try hard not to overcrowd. It’s a difficult balance because you also don’t want your table to look sparse. Items that will help ‘fill-out’ the table without making it look or feel cluttered are napkins, menus and candles. The things you may like to have less of are glasses – the more you have the more likely someone will knock one over while they’re gesticulating excitedly (it is your wedding, they’re likely to be happy!).
Try to put something in the center of the plate, whether it’s a wedding favor, menu, napkin or something superfluous. It will really help make the table look ‘full’ and finished.
NO PLATES TO DECORATE?
If you don’t have plates to pop things on top, then use a napkin and place-name holders like this:

A JAZZY TABLECLOTH
You can also play around with a jazzy table cloth. But be careful, if you do have a ‘fussy ‘ table cloth, then keep what’s on top of it quite simple or you’ll end up with a messy overall look.
