If you want to do something different, check out these creative ideas for you and your groom-to-be:

For Word Nerds

Scrabble Letters Save the Date Photo

If you and your sweetie love reading, writing and word games, create a beautiful announcement using Scrabble tiles and your engagement ring. Spell out love with the the L, V and E tiles and use the ring as the O. You then can post the photos on social media or print out postcards to mail to your friends and family. If you decide to transform the photo into cards, they can include more details of the upcoming nuptials, such as the date, time and place of the wedding.

For Movie Buffs

Save the Date Photo for movie buffs
Couples who love going to the movies together can create their own movie poster announcement. Have someone take your picture in front of a simple background, and then transform it into a poster that says something short and sweet like “Mr. and Mrs. (Last Name), Coming Soon on (Wedding Date).” Or, you can create something more elaborate by re-creating an existing movie poster. For example, if you both love the “Lord of the Rings” series, use a play on words with your engagement ring to make the announcement. Some other classics include “The Notebook” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”Instructables offers easy-to-follow instructions on how to make a movie poster using Photoshop. Plus, this can be a fun way to spend time together before you start the stress of planning the wedding.

For Budding Videographers

Couples who enjoy using their cameras and smartphones to shoot short films will love starring in their own short movie. Use your phone to create a Vine video or attach smartphone accessories to make a longer announcement to share with friends and family. Just be sure your phone’s camera and video software is up to the job. If you haven’t upgraded your phone in awhile, consider the HTC One M9 because it comes with a 20 MP camera and a sapphire glass lens. This smartphone also has dual front-facing HTC BoomSound to capture everything you want to say and UFocus, which helps you bring objects into focus after you are done filming. You can do anything between re-creating the story of your relationship or simply sharing your engagement.

For Pet Parents

Save the Date Photo Featuring Your Dog

If you and your fiancé have a dog or cat, have your precious fur babies announce your joyful news to the world. Hang a sign around your pet’s neck that says something like “My Humans are Getting Hitched,” and then post it on Facebook and Instagram. But, if your cat would rather eat week-old dog food than wear a cute sign, politely ask him or her to sit next to a chalkboard that announces your news.
