It’s nothing new that barns and farm settings are popular for weddings because they help drive that rustic chic style that’s so hot right now (think of the latest celebrity weddings like Anne Hathaway’s Big Sur wedding and Kate Bosworth’s Montana wedding).
But the latest trend in rustic weddings is actually to host your wedding reception on a dairy farm. The reason isn’t because of the built-in hay bales and antique milk cans (that would undoubtedly add to a rustic wedding).
According to a recent LA Times article, a handful of dairy farms have opened up their doors to to-be-brides and grooms to offset the hit they’ve taken during the economic downturn.
In other words, having your wedding at a dairy farm could actually help keep local farms in business. Take the Double T farm in Stevinson California (Kelly Clarkson even filmed her music video for the song Tie It Up there!). The owner Tony Azevedo and his wife Carol now rely on wedding rentals to keep their farm up and running. So why not go for a dairy farm wedding? Instant atmosphere, amazing photo ops and plenty of space to build your own custom-made rustic dream wedding. Genius.
