Exploring Xeomin: How Does It Stack Up Against Botox?

March 21, 2022 by Sarah & Jenny Leave a Comment

In 2020, there were 4.4 million Botox injections done, which made it the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure done. If you want to look youthful and fight against wrinkles and fine lines, then you might want some injections yourself.

But did you know that Botox isn’t your only option? For example, there’s Xeomin, another fantastic non-surgical cosmetic procedure.

Curious about what it can offer you? Then read on to find out more about Xeomin and if it’s better than Botox for you!

What Is Xeomin?

Xeomin is also an injection that uses the botulinum toxin, like Botox. However, it has a “naked” form of botulinum, which means it doesn’t have any protein additives.

Both Xeomin and Botox are considered neuromodulators, which means they can stop muscle contractions. As a result, they’ll prevent or delay the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Xeomin Recovery Time

What’s great about Xeomin (and Botox) is that there’s a very short recovery time. Don’t touch your face for about 3 hours after your injection and refrain from strenuous activities for 4 to 6 hours.

You’ll start seeing results anywhere between 3 to 7 days, and an injection will last you anywhere between 2 to 3 months.

Xeomin Cost

Both Xeomin and Botox both don’t have generic versions, so you’ll have to go brand name. Also, they cost about the same; medspas and doctors pay around $1,000 or more for a vial.

But it’ll depend on the specific provider as to how much you’ll be paying for your injections. Generally, you should expect to pay at least $300 per treatment.

Most insurance plans won’t cover either type of injection, so expect to pay out of pocket.

Benefits of Xeomin

As you’ve just seen, the main benefit of Xeomin is that you can fight against the signs of time. But what makes it different from Botox?

The biggest difference and benefit of Xeomin is the fact that it doesn’t have protein additives. This means it can help with antibody resistance, which can happen with repeated injections, such as with Botox.

Also, it’s possible that Xeomin works faster than Botox and can last longer as well.

You might’ve heard that Botox can treat medical conditions, such as headaches/migraines, urinary incontinence, and excessive sweating. Xeomin can also treat health conditions, but some different ones.

More specifically, it can treat excessive drooling/salivation and abnormal muscle contractions in the neck, eyelids, and limbs. For the above conditions that Botox treats, off-label use of Xeomin might address them too.

Ask About Xeomin

Xeomin is a strong contender against Botox, especially when you consider its benefits. When it comes to Xeomin vs Botox, you’ll want to choose Xeomin if you’re concerned about antibody resistance. Otherwise, have a chat with your doctor to see if Xeomin is right for you!
